17 Nov Disabled Swimmers Club in Bournemouth
I belong to the Disabled Swimmers club in Bournemouth. I have been going since I was 8 years old when I learned to swim there.
I had Ian to teach me to swim towards badges. He was brilliant with lots of patience with me – talking all the way. Swimmers start at the age of 8 to the age of 80+ years.
We have galas, BBQ’s, skittles, barn dances, quiz nights, luncheons and Christmas dinners with discos. Stokewood Road leisure centre is completely wheel chair friendly and there are automatic doors in and out of the complex and changing rooms. There are also 2 disabled changing rooms, and there is also a hoist to get you in and out of the water!
